Return to action for Rob

C Tarleton Hodgson & Son Ltd Scholarship recipient Rob Fagg returns to action this Saturday (21st July) in the fifth round of the highly competitive Mitsubishi Evo Challenge, the Swansea Bay National Rally. The 28 year old Manx co-driver will be back alongside young Scottish hotshot David Bogie in the Kumho Tyres backed Mitsubishi Evo 9.

The pairing have not enjoyed the best of success on the previous two rounds of the Championship, with a third stage exit on the Manx National Rally back in May and more recently an opening stage retirement on the Severn Valley Rally in June.

With the championship now a very slim possibility, David and Rob will be looking get to the finish of the event and show the promise that has been seen early this year converted into championship points.
For the event they shall be back in David’s own Pro-Tec Performance prepared Evo 9, after using a hired car last time

out. With the car repaired after the Manx accident and a good run behind it on the Scottish Rally, the whole team is confident going into the event.

The main opposition this weekend will come from Phillip Morrow (winner of three rounds in 2007), Seb Ling and Julian Reynolds, but there are a number of other crews that could battle for the top three positions, showing what a competitive championship this is again in 2007.

David and Rob in action earlier this year on the Border Counties Rally.

In previous years crew’s visibility has been hampered by the dusty conditions, on what is usually a sunny hot day for the event. For this years event though the organisers have acted to ensure that each crew gets a fair run of the stages and decided to run cars at 2-minute intervals. With David and Rob starting at number 10 they will certainly be glad of this.

Rob is certainly keen to get back out on the stages this weekend, 2007 has been a quite year for Isle of Man Sports Aid Foundation member in comparison to the previous two years.

“I am certainly looking forward to getting back in the car with David, this year the time between events I am doing is just too long” commented Rob, “Over the past couple of seasons I have got used to being in the car a lot and this has kept me focussed throughout the whole season. Despite having the time to train while back at home nothing makes up for car time. I have a good programme between now and the end of November and am certainly looking forward to being out competing.”

Recently Rob has been luckily enough to receive support from the Euromanx - Isle of Man’s Airline, which he is obviously delighted to receive.

“I have to say a big thank you to Euromanx for the support they have provided me with, as I am sure anyone can appreciate travelling from the island to compete in a UK Championship can get quite expensive” explained Rob, “The support from the airline certainly helps me to get away and compete and hopefully I will be able to repay this faith with not only results but by spreading the name of Euromanx.”

Rob is supported in 2007 by the Isle of Man Sports Aid Foundation, C Tarleton Hodgson & Son Ltd, Robert Graham & Co Chartered Quantity Surveyors, www.Mexperience.com, NickyGrist.com, Euromanx – Isle of Man’s Airline, Advanced Autosport Technologies and Manx Telecom.
