After clinching the 2005 British Rally
Championship Stars of the Future title on the penultimate round of
the season, Isle of Man Sports Aid Foundation recipient Rob Fagg
steps up the contest the full International event on this weekends
Tempest Rally.
Sitting alongside MSA British Rally Elite driver James Wozencroft
the pair have been rewarded for their efforts by Suzuki UK and
provided with a Suzuki Ignis Super 1600, the same car which carried
Guy Wilks to championship glory in last years British championship
and has done so well in the Junior World Championship.
"It's
a big step up but Suzuki is are putting no pressure on James
and I, so we can concentrate on learning the car."
commented Fagg earlier this week. "It will be James
first international event, but hopefully with the experiences
from the Manx earlier this year and my trip to China he should just
be able to concentrate on the driving. There will be a lot of
first's though this weekend, making our own notes together,
James have never rallied in the dark and driving the S1600
Ignis. I am really looking forward to it"
The
young pairing look to the event as a learning experience in preparation
for the 2006 season when they hope to contest the Super 1600
category of the British Championship.
The
Aldershot based event starts on Friday evening at 19:00 and see the
crews tackle 3 stages before the overnight halt. Resuming early
Saturday morning they face a further 13 mixed surface stages, before
the conclusion of the event around 17:00.
