At the end of
the opeining day of the 4th round of the Chinese National Rally
Championship in Kunming, Martin Rowe and Rob Fagg are in third
place overall despite transmission problems in their KST Ralliat
Hong Kong Team Mitsubishi Evo8.
Leaving the start area at
6.30am for the days 6 special stages, the pair ran into problems 7
killometres into the opening 10km test, losing second gear.
Without enough service time to replace the gearbox they have had
to struggle through the remaining stages and are therefore pleased
to have maintained a top three position as Rowe bids to follow up
on victory on the previous two rounds.
Australian champion Cody
Crocker leads the rally from countryman Simon Evans with
tomorrow's final four stages to go, but with limited service time
leaving no chance to change the troublesome gearbox on the final
day either, Rowe and Fagg are concentrating on holding station.
Overnight they are 19 seconds down on Evans and 15 seconds ahead
of the fourth placed crew.
