Team
Collister Rallying supported by the Manx Motorsport Youth Trust
travel from the Isle of Man to Wales this weekend to compete on the
Swansea Bay Clubman’s Rally.
Driver George Collister (Grenaby) heads into the event
on the back of a fine second place last time out on the Mutiny
Clubman’s Rally. Adding to this the recently announced news that
he is the winner of the inaugural John Easson Scholarship that will
see him compete on the Tour of Mull this year, his morale is running
high.
Collister’s
Motivation Engineering backed Escort MKII has had some minor
improvements made since the last event but unfortunately nothing
that will increase the power and close the gap to the leaders.
Along with these improvements the car has undergone what has
now become the routine check-up plan and the car goes to the event
in the best possible condition.
With
navigator, 2003 Manx Stage Rally Championship winning Rob Fagg (Port
Erin) alongside again the pair hope to be able to continue where
they left off on their last visit to Wales.
A top 5 finish will keep their championship bid alive but
they will also be hoping for the right results from the other title
contenders to continue the move up the tables.
“Both
myself and Rob were obviously very happy with the result on the
Mutiny”, commented George, “But that is in the past now and we
must turn our attentions to this weekend and ensure we pick up
further points.”
The
event is Round 4 of the Kumho Tyres Clubman’s Rally Championship
and will see the crews tackle 45 competitive stage miles.
The stages are made up of sections used in Rally GB in the
Rhonnda, Rheola, Resolven forest complexes, plus the crews will pay
one visit to the man made spectator stage at Walters Arena.
The team are support by the
following companies: Manx Motorsport Youth Trust, Q&S Motors,
