No pressure for Fagg on the Quinton

Reigning Manx Rally Championship winning co-driver Rob Fagg (Port Erin) heads to Round 7 of the BTRDA Silkolene 1400 Championship, the Quinton Horiba Stages Rally, this weekend hoping to put the disappointment of the last round behind him.   The gravel event will be run over 45 miles, using stages in the classic Halfway and Crychan forest complexes.

Competing again in the www.rallyschool.co.uk run VW Polo alongside Liverpudlian Tony Simpson, the Manx Gas supported navigator and his driver are hoping to have a good clean run on the event and pick up further N1 points to count towards their end of season total.

The previous round saw a very earlier retirement when the crew were caught out by the dusty surface on the first stage and left the road ending up down a steep bank.   Despite the effort of the surrounding spectators the car would go no further due to a mechanical problem sustained in the incident.

“We have to forget about the Red Dragon and concentrate 100% on this event” commented Rob, “The event holds no pressure with both Tony and I having very slim chances of winning the N1 championship so we can get out there and enjoy the event.”

The event marks the start of another busy time for Rob; he will compete on the Swansea Bay next weekend before starting preparations for his home round of the Silverstone Tyres Ford Ka Rallye Championship, the Manx Trophy Rally.

Rob's is being supported by: - Manx Motorsport Youth Trust, Manx Gas, Aon (IOM) Ltd, Integrated Capabilities, www.manx.net and Manx Telecom
