Leece looks forward to home event

Manx Motorsport Youth Trust backed crew Andrew Leece and Rob Fagg will be tackling their home event this weekend, the Manx Trophy Rally.   The event is the fourth round of the Silverstone Tyres Ford Rallye Sport Ka Championship.

The young Manx crew will be looking to put the disappointment of the last round behind them after loosing four and a half minutes over the opening two stages on the Rally of the Midlands.   The pair went on to set 8 fastest stage times and in the process show that they should have been in the battle for 1st place and the vital championship points that came with it.

Andrew and Rob are looking to their local knowledge to give them an edge this weekend as they hope to bring the Mark Higgins Rallying Ka home in a strong position in what has to be the most important event for them so far.   Having retired on the opening round and suffered problems on the next two, they need to look for maximum points to bring their bid for the championship back on track.

Again their main threats will come from series leader John Hanson, Rally of the Midlands winner Tom Lunn and Innes Clark.   The later two competed on the event last year but for Hanson it will be his first trip to the island.   Clark also holds the lead in the junior category which Leece is keen to close in on also.

The event gets underway on Friday evening with the crews tackling three stages but an overnight halt.   They will restart bright and early Saturday morning for the remaining eight stages with the final stage finishing at the TT Grandstand in Douglas after close to 100 miles of rallying on some of the finest tarmac stages in Europe.

Andrew and Rob would like to thank the following for their continued support: Manx Motorsport Youth Trust, Mark Higgins Rallying, N A Fargher Newsagents, Forest Experience Rally School, Ken and Eve Leece, Motivation Engineering, W.E. Postlethwaite Ltd, Silverstone Tyres, Manx Gas, Integrated Capabilities, Aon (IOM) Ltd and www.rallycodriver.co.uk
