Leece Heads for Title Fight in Wales

The final round of the 2005 Silverstone Tyres Ford Rallye Sport Ka Championship, the Cambrian Rally in Llandudno, takes place this weekend with three crews in the title frame.   Winner of the previous two rounds, Manx Motorsport Youth Trust recipient Andrew Leece (Onchan) has one thing in his mind, and that is three in a row.

Manxman Leece has turned his season around since retiring from his home round of the championship, when his season appeared to be in tatters.   A gallant fight back on the Mewla to snatch victory over the last two stages and leading the Plains from start to finish have show this young man as a genuine title contender.

The championship and the prize of a Ford Super 1600 car for the 2005 season all goes down to the wire. Scotsman Innes Clark currently tops the leaderboard, having scored on all rounds but a win for N A Fargher Newsagents backed Leece would see him leapfrog Clark who would have to drop one points scoring round from his total should he finish this weekend.   Andrew though would have to hope Clark or maybe one of the early season favorites, Tom Lunn, finish second on the round to keep John Hanson behind him in the points standings.

Back alongside Andrew on this event will be newly crowed 2004 Kumho Clubmans Championship winning Co-driver, fellow MMYT recipient and Manx Gas backed Rob Fagg (Port Erin).   For Integrated Capabilities supported Fagg, he is hoping to be able to guide Andrew to championship glory as he pilots the Mark Higgins Rallying Ka around the North-West Welsh stages.

The Cambrian Rally takes place on the 6th November starting and finishing on Llandudno Promenade.   The first car is due to start at 08.00 and the crews will tackle seven stages before finishing from 14:40 onwards.

Andrew and Rob would like to thank the following for their support on the Cambrian Rally; Manx Motorsport Youth Trust, Mark Higgins Rallying, N A Fargher Newsagents, Forest Experience Rally School, Ken and Eve Leece, W.E. Postlethwaite Ltd, Motivation Engineering, Silverstone Tyres, Manx Gas, Integrated Capabilities, www.mexpereince.com, Aon (IOM) Ltd and www.rallycodriver.co.uk
