Unfortunate exit for Manx duo in Wales

The Manx Motorsport Youth Trust backed crew of George Collister and Rob Fagg retired from the weekends Llangollen based Astra Stages rally in Wales while lying fourth after 20 miles of the 44-mile event.

After receiving some advice and local knowledge towards there preparations for the event from 2003 Kumho Clubman Champion Ieuan Rowlands, the pair began the event with confidence and hoping for a strong performance.   This showed as theyset fifth fastest stage time on the opening stage through Alwen and fourth fastest over the long 13-mile Clocaenog Main stage.
Lying in fourth overall and third in Kumho classification only 2.2 seconds behind 2003 runner-up James Potter in second they entered Clocaenog East hoping to stay in touch and then push hard on the final two stages.

Unfortunately this was not to be the case and 200 yards into the stage as they attempted the first corner the Motivation Engineering Escort went off the road on the slippery surface left by the main field earlier in the day and hit a tree stump damaging the radiator and smashing the oil pump and filter.   Even if they had been able to get the car back on to the road the damage sustained had put them out of the event.

The next round of the championship is in two months time, the Mutiny Rally and therefore providing plenty of time for the car to be repaired.   George and Rob will be hoping for better fortune and a good result to get there championship back on target.

The team would like to thank the following for their continued support: Manx Motorsport Youth Trust, Q&S Motors, Reynolds and Turner, Integrated Capabilities, Motivation Engineering, A.V. Craine & Sons, Sign and Design, Cronk Aashen Farm Camp and www.rallycodriver.co.uk
