Robert looks forward to home rally

Robert Fagg will contest his home national rally the Roush Manx Rally this weekend. For the event he will partner George Collister using the same Escort MKII which the paring used to win on the Manx Trophy Rally in August last year. With backing from the Manx Motorsport Youth Trust and report here, he has been gaining further experience this year in the UK and hopes this will aid him during the event.

This will only be the pairings second outing of the year, the first being the Complete Construction Stages back in February when they retired early in the event with a blown head gasket. Although Robert has been kept busy as a result of contesting the Ford Ka Championship and the local Easter Stages with a visiting driver.

Since the CCS George has been working on the car ensuring that it will be in the best possible condition for this coming event. With the money saved from missing the local Easter Stages event the team has invested in new carbs and ignition system. As a result of the carbs being fitted, the car was taken to Pro-tec Performance where it was set-up on the rolling road to get the most from the engine.

George has proved he has the speed on the tarmac stages during the pas few local tarmac events but has been hampered by problems causing retirement. He is going to be keen to turn this pace into a rewarding finish in his first National A event.

The Roush Manx Rally starts from Port Erin in the south of the island on May 9th, the crews will take to the village streets for a spectator stage before heading off onto some of the fastest asphalt stage miles in Europe for the remaining four stages of Leg 1. The event will then resume on Saturday morning with the crews taking in a further 7 stages totalling around 90 miles leading to the finish at the TT Grandstand in the capital Douglas.
