Rob looks forward to the Manx Trophy
This year due to commitments in the Ford Rallye Sport Ka Championship Rob will be alongside Matthew Bettridge and not defending the trophy with George which has bought some disappointment. "Of course I am disappointed not to be alongside George and defending the trophy, but I knew when I entered the Ka championship that this round would clash with my commitments to George. Although he has been understanding and told me to go for the championship." explained Rob. Fresh from his 14th overall on the Roy Haslett Preparation Stages with JT Warnock, Rob will be hoping that his home event brings him good fortune on the sixth round of the Ka series. So far alongside Matthew they have been sidelined twice with engine problems and once with a gearbox failure. He has recorded two finishes, on the North Humberside and Jim Clark with Matthew and Tom Metcalfe respectively. These been the highlight of the year so far but both results could have been better. "We went to the North Humberside running a borrowed standard gearbox due to problems with our own and it was not suited to the stages at all. Basically it was a drive to the finish." said Rob, "And with the disruptions of the Jim Clark the event never really got going and with the minute penalty from the Friday night we were fighting a loosing battle". With Matthew's Ka now probably in the best condition it has been all year and the problems that have blighted them so far seemingly ironed out, the Manx should offer them a chance of a decent finish. Matthew finished the event last year 20th driving a Polo, and with local knowledge and further experience should be pushing for a higher position.
Thanks for continued support goes to: Manx Motorsport Youth Trust,
Integrated Capabilities, Manx Telecom, Manx.net, Aon (IOM) Ltd and
www.rallycodriver.com Co-ordinator -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A quick thank you from Rob With now passing the half way mark in the year I would just like to say thank you to everyone that has helped me this year so far. Firstly to the Manx Motorsport Youth Trust who have supported myself to go off the island this year and compete in the Ford Rallye Sport Ka Championship. This has gained me a lot of experience and enabled me to meet new people within the rallying world. I was also luckily enough to gain sponsorship from local trust company Integrated Capabilities. Their support has been crucial to enable me to compete in the number of events that I have and plan to do this year. Aon (IOM) Ltd were kind enough also to help me with meeting these costs also this year. Finally my employer Manx Telecom through the ManxNet brand have provided me with safety equipment for use during events and have been keen follows of my activities. There are of course others who have helped me with advice, offered support when needed and it is to those I would also like to say thank you. I hope that I can reward your support with some better results in the second half of the season. Thank you Rob |
