Collister and Fagg contest the Bulldog

Q&S Motors backed George Collister travels to Shrewsbury to contest the Bulldog Stages Clubman Rally this weekend.   Alongside him for the event will be regular co-driver, Manx Motorsport Youth Trust supported Rob Fagg.   The event is the final round of the Kumho Clubman Championship, which the pair hopes to campaign during 2004.

They shall be using the Motivation Engineering powered Escort MKII which took them to a fine 3rd place on their recent local event, the Duke Stages.   The extra power from the recently upgraded engine as expected provided them with the power to compete at the front of the field on the forest stages.

For George it will be only his third time competing in the UK after contesting the Grizedale Stages for the past two years.   Although Rob has contested the Ford Rallye Sport Ka Championship this year of which 5 rounds were gravel events.   The last of these being the Plains Rally that actually used two of the same forests the pair will compete on this weekend.

“The idea of competing on this event was to see how we would fair against the championship contenders of this year and see where we lie within them” explained George, “I am really looking forward to contesting the championship in 2004 and this will enable me to have a taste of the competition before then.”

The Bulldog Stages sees 39 crews contest the clubman event and amongst these are the Kumho Clubman Championship front-runners.   It is these crews that George and Rob will look to compare there times against as a gauge of there performance.

The event starts from Newton, Powys with the stages taking place in mid-Wales within the Dyfi and Dyfant Forests along with stages in the Sweet Lamb rally complex also.   The first clubman competitor is due to start around 10:00 and then finish at 18.35.
